Cencelli Library

The exhibit placed in the Cencelli Library in preview form is a previously unseen work by Studio Azzurro : it collects testimonies from caregivers, patients and family members about the experience of mental illness and the different ways of intervening and approaching the subject of care that the Museum is planning for the continuation of its narrative journey.

Established in 1914 as the library of the former psychiatric hospital Santa Maria della Pietà, it has an collection of of 9,600 volumes, of which 1,154 rare books and 8,446 modern publications, located in two reading rooms. The collections consist mainly of texts on anatomy, neurology, psychopathology, psychiatry, psychology and psychotherapy.

All volumes of the Library are catalogued in SBN.

The Library also houses a collection of the journals of users of mental health services.

INFORMATION

The Library is located in Ward N. 26, I floor, Piazza Santa Maria della Pietà, 5 Rome.
On-site access and consultation are open to all; no loan is provided.
It is possible to request photocopies of articles from periodicals or parts of present volumes, in compliance with copyright.
